I had enjoyed the story but always felt the translation substandard. Previous to this translation I had only read the Penguin Classics version translated by Lord Sudley in 1952. One of the hard parts of reading literature from another language is that you must trust the translator has faithfully translated the text in such a way that what you read in your language is as close to the original as possible. ![]()
